SVG, DXF, PNG or STL? Choose the Right Digital File

The right download starts with the project you want to make and the software you use. This guide explains the formats you'll see in Real MKOI Digital listings. Always check the contents of the specific product.

I want to cut layered wood art.

Look for SVG or DXF cutting files, plus the layer count, working size, recommended material and assembly information. SVG files can also contain raster artwork, so review the file guide to distinguish cutting paths from engraving.

I want to build a miniature house or dollhouse furniture.

Choose the 1:12 miniature house kit or furniture room set that fits your project. Review the included SVG and DXF files, material thickness, finished dimensions and assembly instructions. Choose the machine-specific layout supplied for your equipment and compare the largest part with your laser’s usable cutting area.

Check the product’s stated scale before combining houses and furniture. Keep the original part dimensions unless the instructions explain how to resize them; material thickness and joint fit need to remain consistent.

I want to engrave artwork.

PNG and JPG are raster image formats. Some products also include SVG, DXF or LightBurn project files. Choose a format your software supports and check how the artwork is intended to be processed.

Design size, material and machine settings influence engraving detail. Run a small material test before a full project.

I want a 3D model.

Look for STL or OBJ and read the listing's production requirements. These formats describe 3D geometry. They are different from flat images that create a 3D optical illusion. Confirm that the model suits your intended printing, carving or other workflow.

I want printable coloring pages.

PDF is convenient for printing a book or a set of pages. PNG and JPG may be supplied as individual images. Check the paper size, page count and whether a ZIP file needs extracting.

I want an editable planner.

Read the listing to see whether it supplies an Excel workbook, Google Sheets template, editable document or printable PDF. A printable PDF is not automatically an editable spreadsheet. The product page identifies the included versions.
